Men’s Tennis Downs Golden Bears

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 20 Stanford men's tennis ended its home slate in triumphant fashion, beating No. 29 California, 4-3, at Taube Family Tennis Center.

Stanford struck first with the doubles point, winning matches on courts one and two. Samir Banerjee and Arthur Fery cruised to a 6-1 victory while the two other matchups went to a tiebreaker. Aryan Chaudhary and Filip Kolasinski pulled ahead to take a 7-4 win and give Stanford the lead in the match.

Fery extended Stanford's lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 win on court one, helping him remain unbeaten in Pac-12 play this season. Cal responded with three straight wins to take a 3-2 lead in the match.

Banerjee rallied for a match-tying point in the second position, winning a 6-3 third set, while Max Basing provided the clinching heroics on court three with a 6-2 win in a third set of his own.

Isaac Gorelik was honored for senior day, and the graduate transfer won his first set on court six.

Stanford returns to action on Friday, April 21 at 3 p.m. at Washington.
