STANFORD, Calif. – Led by second team selections Kevin Lamp and Justin Lui, five Cardinal were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-conference teams, the league announced Tuesday.
Joining Lamp and Lui were honorable mention selections Nathaniel Gates and Will Rottman, while Theo Snoey landed on the all-freshman team. Rottman is being recognized for the third time in his career, while Lui is a repeat honoree. Stanford now has 113 all-conference selections all-time.
A native of Lake Bluff, Illinois, Lamp averaged a team-best 2.95 kills per set on .309 hitting in MPSF matches this season. On the year, the outside hitter has tallied double-digit kills in 13 matches and hit .300 or better on eight occasions. The senior led the team in kills seven times.
A redshirt senior from Pickering, Ontario, Canada, Lui leads the MPSF with 2.16 digs per set, ranking ninth nationally. A three-time MPSF Defensive Player of the Week in 2023, the libero has tallied double-digit digs in seven matches, including a career-high 19 against UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 14).
In MPSF matches, Gates hit a team-best .578 and averaged 0.93 blocks per set. A native of La Jolla, the middle blocker is ninth in the MPSF with 0.84 blocks per set on the season. A two-time MPSF Defensive Player of the Week, he has hit .400 or better in 16 matches and tallied four or more blocks on 11 occasions.
A native of Santa Barbara, Rottman was second on the team with 2.84 kills per set in MPSF matches. On the season, the outside hitter is fourth in the MPSF in kills per set (3.57), fifth in points per set (4.09) and seventh in aces per set (0.32). He has led the team in kills 14 times and had 20-plus kills in five matches in 2023.
An opposite from Berkeley, Snoey turned in 2.80 kills and 1.45 digs per set in MPSF contests. The rookie has led the team in kills seven times and totaled double-digit kills in 13 matches. With two double-doubles on the year, Snoey has hit .300 or better on nine occasions.
Pepperdine opposite Jaylen Jasper, a 2021 Stanford graduate, was named MPSF Player of the Year, while UCLA setter Andrew Rowan was voted MPSF Freshman of the Year.
The No. 3 seed, Stanford opens the MPSF Tournament on Wednesday against No. 6 seed USC at 5:30 p.m. in Maples Pavilion.
