2023 Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Stanford senior Brooke Seay was named the 2022-23 Pac-12 Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the Conference announced on Thursday following the Pac-12 Championships. The award, which is presented in each of the 24 sports the Pac-12 sponsors, was established to honor collegiate student-athletes that are standouts both academically and in their sports discipline.

The senior from San Diego, Calif., has maintained a 4.08 cumulative grade-point average in human biology while playing an integral role on one of the most dominant teams in collegiate golf history.

For her career, Seay owns a 73.1 scoring average with 15 top-20 finishes, 10 top-10s, and a tournament title in her four seasons on The Farm. She enjoyed a standout junior season in 2021-22, earning Golfweek and WGCA All-America accolades along with First Team All-Pac-12 honors while helping Stanford to the NCAA national title. Seay went a perfect 3-0-0 in match play during the Cardinal's run to the crown, improving to 4-0-0 all-time in NCAA matches.

Off the course, Seay punctuated last spring's championship campaign by earning the NCAA Elite 90 Award as the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the event. She has also been named a WGCA All-American Scholar (2020, 2021, 2022) and member of the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll (2021, 2022) each of her eligible seasons.

Seay is the third recipient of the honor from the Cardinal women's golf program, joining Lauren Kim (2015-16) and Sally Watson (2012-13).

In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, student-athletes must be a senior (in athletics eligibility) on track to receive a degree, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests in the sport and have a minimum one year in residence at the institution. Each Pac-12 institution may nominate one individual per sport, and the winners are selected by a committee of Pac-12 staff members at the conclusion of each sport's regular season. The athletics accomplishments of the nominees are a consideration in voting for the award.
