STANFORD, Calif. – Led by Kevin Lamp, No. 8 Stanford defeated No. 12 USC, 21-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-15, Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the MPSF Tournament at Maples Pavilion.

The No. 3 seed, Stanford (14-12) hit .278 as a team, racking up 59 kills – the most in a four-set match by the Cardinal this season. No. 6 seed USC (10-16) was held to a .155 attack percentage, but the Trojans doubled-up the Cardinal in blocks, 20.0 to 10.0.

Lamp registered a match-high 17 kills to go with seven digs, four blocks and two aces. Opposite Theo Snoey added 14 kills on .333 hitting, five digs and three blocks in his postseason debut.
 


Setter Nathan Lietzke dished out 48 assists and had a team-high 10 digs for his fourth double-double of the season. The senior also had three kills, three blocks and an ace. Libero Justin Lui collected seven digs and four assists.
 


Outside hitter Will Rottman finished with 13 kills, seven digs and three aces. Middle blockers Nathaniel Gates and Ethan Hill each recorded six kills and four blocks.
 


USC was led by freshman outside hitter Dillon Klein, who totaled 12 kills, seven blocks and an ace. Middle blocker Lucas Frassrand had a match-high nine blocks, while opposite Kevin Kobrine chipped in with nine kills, six blocks and a match-high 12 digs.

No. 3 seed Stanford will face No. 2 seed BYU in the semifinals on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Maples Pavilion.
