STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Kiefer Lord and freshman Sam Boyle combined to toss a shutout on Saturday as the Washington Huskies (21-12, 8-8 Pac-12) blanked the No. 9 Stanford Cardinal 9-0 to even a three-game Pac-12 series.
Lord (4-3) struck out 10 while allowing three hits over eight innings. The right-hander used 104 pitches and retired the final 16 batters he faced, last allowing a runner on a two-out single from Tommy Troy in the third.
Freshman Matt Scott (5-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Stanford (24-12, 12-5 Pac-12). Freshman Nick Dugan was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going four innings, surrendering one run on two hits, walking two and striking out a career-best seven batters.
Junior Carter Graham led the way offensively for the Cardinal, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame. Troy also finished with two hits, going 2-for-4.
