Cardinal Starts Off Strong

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 8 Stanford kicked off postseason action with a win Wednesday, sweeping No. 13 Washington 3-0 at the 2023 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championship held at Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium.

Freshman duo Line Andersson and Daria Gusarova recorded the first match point with a dominant 21-18, 21-8 victory over UW's Shannon Gormally and Hannah Yerex on court five.
 


Juniors Emmy Sharp and Kate Reilly fought off a Washington comeback attempt from Scarlett Dahl and Paloma Bowman on court four to take home the second point of the day in a 21-18, 16-21, 15-9 three-set victory.
 


Freshmen Ashley Vincent and Kelly Belardi brought home the dual victory with a 21-13, 21-13 win on court four over the Huskies' Teagan DeFalco and Mary Sinclair.
 


The Cardinal moves on in the winner's bracket and is slated to take on No. 1-ranked and No. 1 seed UCLA Thursday, April 27 at 10:15 a.m. The match will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks. With a victory over the Bruins, Stanford would stay in the winners bracket and next play Friday, April 28 at 9 a.m. against the winner of match seven (No. 3 USC vs. No. 9 California). With a loss, the Cardinal would move to the contenders bracket and compete again Thursday at 5:15 p.m. against the winner of match 10 (Arizona State vs. No. 20 Arizona).
