Outlasted by USC

OJAI, Calif. – No. 23 Stanford men's tennis led early after doubles but No. 10 USC advanced to the Pac-12 championship game with a 4-2 victory on Friday afternoon at Libbey Park.

Stanford took the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Samir Banerjee and Arthur Fery defeated a ranked pair in the top slot, while Max Basing and Neel Rajesh overcame a 5-2 deficit to win 7-6 (4) and clinch the early lead.

USC picked up momentum in singles, taking a 3-1 lead. Filip Kolasinski won a hard-fought battle in straight sets in the fifth position, while Stanford was locked in tight matches on courts two and six. Samir Banerjee and Aryan Chaudhary each took a set, but the Cardinal was outlasted on court six to give the Trojans the edge.

Stanford will await its fate in the NCAA Tournament selection show, held on Monday, May 1 at 3:30 p.m.
