Championship Sunday Awaits

Leaderboard Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. – It'll all come down to the final round of the 2023 Pac-12 Championships on Sunday at Stanford Golf Course. Junior Michael Thorbjornsen, at 13-under 197, owns a two-shot lead, while Stanford men's golf sits just two shots off the team lead with 18 holes remaining.

Thorbjornsen began the day tied for the lead, but enters Sunday's final round with a two-stroke advantage following a 2-under 68 Saturday. Colorado's Dylan McDermott trails Thorbjornsen by two shots at 11-under. Thorbjornsen looks to become Stanford's 13th individual to win a Pac-12 Championship, but the first since Maverick McNealy in 2015.

Stanford's 6-under 344 Saturday in the play-six, count-five format was the second best in the field and 15 strokes better than Arizona State, who began the day in the lead. In fact, the Cardinal trailed the Sun Devils by 19 shots following Friday's first round, but has come all the way back to tie Arizona State. The Cardinal owns the tiebreaker over Arizona Stae and will play in the final grouping with Colorado and Washington on Sunday. Just five shots separate first from fifth with 18 holes remaining.

Nate Menon had Stanford's round of the day with a 4-under 66, matching his best career round-to-par (2019 Pac-12 Championships). Karl Vilips fired a 2-under 68 and is now tied for 11th at 5-under 205.

Stanford trails co-leaders Colorado and Washington (17-under) by just two shots. Action begins at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, and the final groups will go off from 8:42-9:42 a.m. Sunday.
