Pitchers Get it Done

STANFORD, Calif. -- The pitchers for No. 7 Stanford had everything working on Friday, striking out 12 batters total in the 3-2 win over No. 20 Arizona at Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium. This is the Cardinal's third series win of the season.

Krause (9-3) went five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and walking one for Stanford (30-6, 7-4 Pac-12). The right-hander punched out eight Arizona hitters, one short of her career high. Alana Vawter stepped in the circle for the Cardinal in the sixth, throwing two innings while allowing no hits, with no walks and four strikeouts.

In the batter's box, the Cardinal were led by Kylie Chung, who came in as a pinch hitter in the fifth and got the scoring started with her first home run of the season

Taylor Gindlesperger followed Chung with an RBI double through the left side. In the next at-bat, River Mahler chipped in to drive home Gindlesperger.

The Wildcats got on the board in the sixth with a two-run homer to tighten the game, but the Cardinal got the win to take the series.
