STANFORD, Calif. – Will Rottman and Justin Lui have been tabbed AVCA All-Americans, announced today by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Rottman was selected to the second team, while Lui landed on the honorable mention list. Both are being recognized for the second time in their careers. Stanford now has 76 All-America awards all-time.
After earning first team recognition in 2022, Rottman becomes the 17th Cardinal player to be a multiple-time AVCA First or Second Team All-American, and the first since Evan Enriques (2016, 2018).
A native of Santa Barbara, Rottman led the team with 3.67 kills and 4.26 points per sets. A three-time All-MPSF selection, he is third in the conference in kills per set, and fourth in aces (0.36) and points per set. He led the team in kills 16 times and had 20-plus kills on six occasions. The senior hit .300 or better in 11 matches in 2023. In the three MPSF Tournament matches, he averaged 4.33 kills on a .319 attack percentage, 1.58 digs, 0.67 aces and 5.29 points per set to lead the Cardinal.
A redshirt senior from Pickering, Ontario, Canada, Lui led the MPSF with 2.10 digs per set, ranking 12th nationally. A three-time MPSF Defensive Player of the Week in 2023, the libero tallied double-digit digs in eight matches, including a career-high 19 against UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 14). A two-time All-MPSF pick, he ends his career fourth in program history in the rally-scoring era with 2.12 digs per set and fifth with 698 digs.
The pair earned 2023 MPSF All-Tournament Team honors after leading the Cardinal back to the conference final in consecutive seasons for the first time in program history.
