STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Alberto Rios has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week and earned a spot on Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week list, it was announced on Monday.
Rios batted .556 (10-for-18) with seven runs scored, two doubles, four homers and 11 RBIs last week as Stanford went 3-1 and clinched a second consecutive Pac-12 championship.
In a three-game series against Arizona, Rios hit .615 (8-for-13) with five runs scored, two doubles, three homers and nine RBIs. The native of Bellflower, Calif. went 5-for-6 with four runs scored, a double, three homers and nine RBIs on Sunday. The three home runs on Sunday ran Rios' season total to 16, while he now has 60 RBIs on the year.
Rios has now put together two games of five hits and nine-plus RBIs after setting a Stanford record with 11 RBIs as part of a five-hit day against CSU Bakersfield on March 5.
The Pac-12 selection is the second in as many weeks for Rios after earning the honor following a standout weekend at Arizona State May 5-7.
