STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford has signed graduate transfer Madison McPherson to compete during the 2023-24 season, Danielle Spencer announced on Wednesday. The All-Big Ten midfielder joins the Cardinal after an impressive four year career at Johns Hopkins University.
"I am very excited to add Madison to our program and welcome her to the Farm," said the Paul A. Violich Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Danielle Spencer. "Madison has had a great playing career at Johns Hopkins and comes here with high praise from her previous coaches."
A four-year player for the Blue Jays, McPherson accumulated 37 goals, eight assists, and 45 total points while featuring in 53 games and making 34 starts. The Baltimore native also gathered 85 career draw controls, 49 caused turnovers, and 90 ground balls during her career at Johns Hopkins.
"As we work towards becoming a national contender, I believe Madison has the talent, experience, and character traits that will elevate our program," added Spencer. "I am looking forward to helping her grow as a player and build strong chemistry with the great team we have in place."
A second team All-Big Ten selection in 2022, McPherson has been a force both on and off the field for the Blue Jays, garnering two Big Ten Academic All-Conference awards, two Big Ten Distinguished Scholar awards, and an IWLCA Academic Honor Roll selection.
A year ago, McPherson was also named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team after a dominant season that saw her score 33 goals and tally 39 points, the second-best marks for the Blue Jays. The same season, McPherson netted a career-high five goals against East Carolina.
McPherson is set to join a talented Cardinal team that averaged 22.61 points per game, the tenth-best mark in the NCAA in 2023 and the 17th-best scoring offense in the nation.
