Raynaud Set to Play For France

HERAKLION, Greece – Rising junior Maxime Raynaud of the Stanford men's basketball team has been selected to France's under-20 national team for the FIBA U-20 European Championships. The event is set to run July 8-16 in Greece.

Raynaud was one of the most improved players in the Pac-12 in 2022-23, ending the season with averages of 8.8 points and a team-leading 6.1 rebounds per game. The Paris native ranked seventh in the Pac-12 in field goal percentage and excelled after entering the starting lineup, as the seven-footer scored 11.0 points with 7.2 rebounds per night over the season's final 17 games.

No stranger to the French national team system or FIBA tournaments, Raynaud competed at the under-16 European Championship in 2019 in Italy and was selected for the 2020 U17 World Cup in Bulgaria, but the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Raynaud and France won a silver medal at the U-16 event in 2019.

Raynaud and France open on July 8 against Germany, and the team will also face Slovenia and Iceland in the group stage. Every game will air live on YouTube.
