Preseason All-Pac-12 Team Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. – With the 2023 season officially set to begin on Thursday at San Diego, Stanford landed a conference-best four players on the inaugural Preseason All-Pac-12 Team, as selected by the conference coaches.

Fifth-year midfielder Maya Doms is joined by sophomore standouts Jasmine Aikey, Elise Evans and Allie Montoya on the preseason list.

The 11-player squad consists of 10 field players – regardless of position - and one goalkeeper.

Stanford's four selections are one more then reigning national champion UCLA. USC managed to place two on the list, while Washington State and California each had one selection.

Doms, a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region first team selection, earned second-team All-America honors from the organization a year ago after scoring four goals and assisting on five more to total 13 points.

Aikey earned a spot on the All-Pac-12 second team and was a United Soccer Coaches All-Region first team pick a year ago. The native of Palo Alto, Calif. scored a team-best 10 goals and assisted on three more to post a team-high 23 points. Her 10 goals ranked eighth in the Pac-12 (first among freshmen) and 50th in the nation (fourth among freshmen).

Evans was voted 2022 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year before earning Top Drawer Soccer National Freshman of the Year honors. The United Soccer Coaches first team selection started 19 matches a season ago, scoring three goals – all of them game-winners. An anchor on the Stanford back line, she helped guide the Cardinal to 12 shutouts while limiting opponents to just .55 goals per game.

Montoya earned All-Pac-12 third team honors as a sophomore after scoring five goals and assisting on four more to total 14 points. She finished the year with three game-winners and had a goal or an assist in four of her final five matches before suffering a season-ending injury in a 1-0 victory over No. 1 UCLA on October 14.

The Cardinal will open the 2023 season on Thursday when it visits San Diego for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Stanford will then play at UC Irvine on Sunday, August 20, before returning home for the home opener against San Francisco on Thursday, August 24 at 7 p.m.
