HOUSTON – In a complete team effort, No. 5 Stanford swept Rice, 25-17, 26-24, 25-21, Tuesday, at Tudor Fieldhouse.
Stanford (4-1) improves to 4-0 on the road this season. The Cardinal out hit Rice (2-3), .234 to .106 – the lowest by a Cardinal opponent this season. Stanford recorded 46 digs, 9.0 blocks and a season-best eight aces.
Middle blocker McKenna Vicini led the Cardinal with a .583 attack percentage, registering eight kills on 12 swings with just one error. Outside hitter Elia Rubin had a match-high nine kills to go with six digs and an ace.

Setter Kami Miner dished out 34 assists and had three kills, seven digs and two solo blocks. Libero Elena Oglivie had a match and season-high 15 digs to go with three assists and two aces.
Playing in her second match of the season, outside hitter Caitie Baird totaled eight kills, five digs, three blocks and an ace. Opposite Kendall Kipp added eight kills, nine digs and an ace.

Middle blocker Sami Francis finished with five kills, four blocks and two digs. Defensive specialist Anna Pringle chipped in with a career-high two aces and a dig.

Rice was led by Kaitlyn Knobbe's seven kills on .462 hitting and four blocks. Libero Nia McCardell anchored the Owls' defense with a team-best 14 digs.
Stanford returns to The Farm this weekend to host the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge, Sept. 8-9. The Cardinal will take on No. 15 Ohio State on Friday at 7 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks and No. 10 Minnesota on Saturday at 7 p.m. on Pac-12 Insider.
