STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford men's basketball completed a 10-day foreign tour in France and Greece, taking on three opponents while visiting historical sites in Paris and Athens.

"This trip was important to build chemistry within our program, and we were able to do that on the court and off in both France and Greece," said Jerod Haase, the Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball. "It put a cap on a strong summer by our players, and I am excited to continue to build with this group this fall."

Stanford's trip started with an 82-75 defeat to Nanterre 92, which plays in the top division in France. A strong performance, in which Stanford led after three quarters, was led by Maxime Raynaud's 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, while Spencer Jones led the team with 15 points. Five players finished in double figures, joined by Michael Jones, Andrej Stojakovic and Brandon Angel.

The Cardinal rebounded with a resounding win over fourth-division Tremblay, 102-76, in the North of Paris. Spencer Jones was once again the leading scorer, with 19 points and five triples, while Raynaud and Stojakovic contributed 14 points apiece. Michael Jones and Brandon Angel scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, while James Keefe was one rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Jared Bynum dished a game-leading 10 assists against just one turnover.

Stanford visited several historical sites in Paris, including the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Sacre Couer and the Louvre, and spent a day honoring fallen World War II service members in Normandy at Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc and the American Cemetery.

The trip continued in Greece, where the Cardinal faced top-division Lavrio in Glyfada, dropping a back-and-forth battle, 91-87. Raynaud led the offense with a double-double, recording 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Bynum and Stojakovic scored 12 points each.

The team continued its adventures with a visit to the Acropolis, and the historic Parthenon, as well as the island of Hydra.

Over the three-game trip, Spencer Jones led the offense at 14.7 points per game, while Raynaud added 13.3 points and 9.3 rebounds. Stojakovic's first games in a Cardinal uniform contributed 12.7 points per game, while Michael Jones finished the trip at 11.3 per game.
