Cardinal Remains Unbeaten

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sophomore Jasmine Aikey's goal in the 86th minute earned No. 2 Stanford (6-0-1) a 1-1 draw on the road at No. 13 Georgetown (4-0-3) on Sunday afternoon.

The Cardinal was playing behind for virtually the entire match after Emma Davis received a pass from Henley Tippins in the seventh minute and directed her shot toward the back post and in for Georgetown.

Despite having a handful of chances in the match, Stanford could not break through until earning a free kick in the 85th minute. Teeing up her shot outside the box, Aikey unleashed an attempt and beat Hoyas goalkeeper Cara Martin for the equalizer.

The evenly-matched contest between two top-10 foes saw Georgetown earn a slim 14-13 advantage in shots, while Stanford managed a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Ryan Campbell played all 90 minutes in goal for the Cardinal, making four saves. Martin countered with four of her own for Georgetown.

Fifth-year player Maya Doms took three shots for the Cardinal, putting all three on frame, and forcing Martin into tough saves to keep her off the scoresheet.

Stanford will return home next week, hosting No. 8 Santa Clara on Sunday at 6 p.m.
