Stanford Finishes Ninth at Sahalee

SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Stanford concluded its first tournament of the season on Sunday afternoon, finishing with a 32-over 896 to finish ninth at the Sahalee Players Championship in a field that consisted of ten teams ranked in the Bushnell/Golfweek preseason coaches poll.
 
Senior Karl Vilips continued to lead the Cardinal into Sunday, scoring three birdies and three bogeys to shoot even par on the final round and finish tied for 16th on the individual leaderboard.
 
Barclay Brown settled in to his third round with 1-over 73, improving by six shots from his second-round effort yesterday. Brown tallied three birdies and four bogeys on his Sunday afternoon scorecard to finish the weekend 9-over and tied for 35th.
 
Freshman Kush Arora also finished 9-over on the weekend after should a 5-over 77 on the day. Arora had a clean round for most of the day but finished the day with two bogeys and a double bogey in his final three holes to stain an otherwise solid performance.
 
Rounding out the Cardinal's scorers on the day was Sean-Karl Dobson with a final round 4-over 76, while Ethan Gao scored an 11-over 83 on the day. Competing on the individual side of the competition, Dean Greyserman scored a third round 12-over 84.
 
Looking ahead, the Cardinal returns to competition next weekend at the Fighting Illini Inviational on Sept. 15-17. Action will take place at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Ill.
