STANFORD, Calif. – USA Swimming announced the 2023-24 National Junior Team on Monday morning, as Stanford freshman Caroline Bricker and Lucy Thomas were among the 74 athletes selected. Bricker qualified for the 200 IM while Thomas earned a spot in the 100 breast.
"We could not be more excited to announce the 2023-2024 USA National Team Roster," said Erik Posegay, USA Swimming's National Junior Team Director and National Coach. "We proudly welcome back some familiar faces while adding a number of new athletes who together represent the future of our sport."
Bricker, a Colorado Springs, Colo., native, most recently won the 200 IM at the 2023 Speedo Junior National Championships with a personal best 2:13.18. Bricker was the 16th ranked recruit in SwimSwam's high school class of 2023 rankings.
Thomas hails out of Brookfield, Wis., and was SwimSwam's eighth-ranked recruit for the Class of 2023. She was the 2022 junior national champion in the 100 breast and most recently competed at Speedo Sectionals in Des Moines where she was a two-time champion (50 free, 100 breast). This is Thomas' second National Junior Team bid, as she earned a selection for the 2022-23 team a year ago.
Both talented freshmen are set to be immediate contributors for Stanford this upcoming season.
