Single-Handed Conference Title

PCCSC Single-Handed Women's Championship Opens in a new window

SEATTLE - Jack Baldwin opened the 2023-24 campaign with a conference title, taking home the PCCSC Single-Handed Open Championship over the weekend. By taking home first place, Baldwin secured himself a spot in the national competition later this season.

"Both sailors showed their grit during the puffy and shifty racing on Saturday," said Assistant Sailing Coach Shawn Harvey. "Happy to have Jack in the event on his birthday!"

Baldwin took the top spot among nine sailors in the field after competing in nine races. The sophomore never finished below fourth place in a race, including five race wins on his way to 16 total points and the best score in the event by four points.

Gwendolyn Donahue represented the Cardinal in the women's division, coming in fourth overall with 30 points, 10 points behind second place. The senior finished with three top-three finishes during the eight races in the event, rising as high as second place.

The Cardinal returns to action next week in two regattas. The Danmark trophy, hosted by the United State Coast Guard Academy, and the Women's ACC First Round, hosted by Saint Mary's College of Maryland.
