Picked Third in the Pac-12

LAS VEGAS – Stanford was picked to finish third in the Pac-12 when the conference announced the results of the preseason coaches' poll on Tuesday morning at the league's annual Media Day in Las Vegas.

The Cardinal totaled 100 points and two first-place votes. Utah, last year's regular-season co-champion along with Stanford, was the leading vote getter, receiving seven first-place votes and collecting 116 points. UCLA garnered the remaining three first-place votes and was second with 109 points. Colorado was fourth (90 points) and Washington State fifth (84 points), while USC (70 points) closed out the top half of the poll in sixth.

Stanford had appeared atop the past three preseason coaches' polls, as it won three consecutive Pac-12 regular-season titles, two Pac-12 Tournament crowns and the 2021 NCAA championship. The Cardinal had topped the rankings for 15 consecutive years beginning in 2000-01 and then were second for five straight preseasons from 2015-16 through 2019-20.

Arizona (51 points), Oregon (49 points), Washington (46 points), Oregon State (43 points), California (22 points) and Arizona State (12 points) rounded out the rest of the poll.

Stanford was also tabbed third in the Pac-12's preseason media poll, which was voted on by 27 media members who cover the league. The Cardinal received five first-place votes and totaled 283 points, one point behind second-place UCLA (10 first-place votes, 284 points). Utah topped the media vote as well with 298 points and 12 first-place votes.
