2023-24 Schedule Unveiled

STANFORD, Calif. - Chris Ayres, The Matt Gentry Head Wrestling Coach, has announced Stanford's 2023-24 schedule, including seven home duals on The Farm.

The Cardinal will wrestle a total of 14 duals and compete in some of the nation's most competitive collegiate tournaments. Stanford opens the season on Nov. 4 at home against Duke.

Following the Menlo Open on Nov. 5, the Cardinal will face Nebraska-Kearney at home on Nov. 12. Stanford will also have duals on the East Coast prior to the holidays, beginning Dec. 17 at Virginia Tech and the Campbell Duals, featuring host Campbell, North Dakota State and Purdue.

Stanford will make appearances at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational (Dec. 1-2) and the Southern Scuffle (Jan. 1-2).

The Cardinal boasts a heavy home schedule in January and February, playing host to Missouri (Jan. 10), Little Rock (Jan. 28), CSU Bakersfield (Feb. 4), Cal Poly (Feb. 11) and Oregon State (Feb. 18). The Cardinal will travel to Penn and Drexel on Jan. 21 and take on Pac-12 foe Arizona State on the road on Feb. 17.

Oregon State will host the 2024 Pac-12 Championships on Sunday, March 10. The NCAA Championships will be held March 21-23 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Stanford returns five NCAA qualifiers, including 2021 All-American and Pac-12 champion Jaden Abas, and 2023 Pac-12 champion and Newcomer of the Year, Daniel Cardenas. Cardenas enters the season ranked No. 9 at 157 pounds in the InterMat Individual Rankings, while Abas comes in at No. 11 at 149 pounds. Returning 197-pounder Nick Stemmet is ranked No. 15, while sophomore 125-pounder Nico Provo is No. 22 and redshirt freshman 165-pounder Hunter Garvin is No. 29. Graduate transfer Dom LaJoie is listed at No. 30 at 133 pounds.
