Berkeley, Calif. – Riley Pittman and Ethan Parrish each recorded hat tricks, but No. 4 Stanford was unable to complete the comeback after No. 2 California scored four goals in the first quarter to end the Cardinal's regular season with an 8-12 loss.
Pittman's three scores marked his 16th game this year with multiple goals scored, and moved him into the team lead with 52 goals on the season. Parrish's three brought his season total to 40, third on the team.
California jumped out to the early lead, holding a 4-2 advantage after the first quarter. Two goals from Parrish in the second quarter kept the deficit at two, with the Card trailing 4-6 at halftime.
Goalkeeper Liam Harrison started and made his first appearance for the Card since 2021, making a career-high 12 saves on the day.
Stanford begins the MPSF Conference tournament next week in Berkeley, starting on Friday, Nov. 17. The Card can enter as either the fifth or seventh seed, pending USC's result this afternoon.
