Iriafen a USBWA National Player of the Week

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford junior forward Kiki Iriafen was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Tuesday.

Iriafen had the first two 20-point games of her career and averaged a team-best 21.5 points on 73.1 percent shooting and 12.0 rebounds in the Cardinal's victories over Hawai'i and then-No. 9 Indiana.

She had career highs with 23 points and 13 rebounds in Stanford's 87-40 win against the Rainbow Wahine on Wednesday and followed that up with 20 points and 11 rebounds in a 96-64 rout of the Hoosiers on Sunday.

The only player in the country averaging 21.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and shooting 73.1 percent from the floor, Iriafen is the first Stanford player to start the season with back-to-back double-doubles since current assistant coach Erica McCall began her junior year with four consecutive double-doubles in 2015-16.

New this season, the USBWA is handing out five Ann Meyers Drysdale weekly honors each week. No. 6 Stanford continues its season-opening homestand on Thursday night when it hosts Cal Poly at 7 p.m.
