Cardinal cruises to 24-4 win against Austin College

Scoresheet Opens in a new window

BERKELEY, Calif. - No. 4 Stanford cruised to a 24-4 quarterfinal win over Austin College at the MPSF Championship. Next up for the Cardinal is a rematch with No. 2 California on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2:45 p.m.

The scoring total was the most by Stanford this season, surpassing the previous best of 20. The 24 goals were the most for the team since last year's MPSF quarterfinal, when the Card scored 26 against Augustana.

Jackson Painter and Daniel Mnatsakanian both recorded hat tricks to lead the way, with six other Stanford players scoring multiple goals. All in all, 14 different players scored for the Cardinal.

Painter's hat trick continues a torrid stretch for the All-MPSF first team selection, his third-straight game with three goals scored.

Mnatsakanian's hat trick was his first of the season, and nearly doubled his season goal total after finding the back of the net four times in the regular season

Griffen Price made 14 saves to tie a season best, adding in two assists as well.

Churukian's two-goal performance was his first multi-goal game of the season, after scoring just three goals in the regular season.

Tomorrow's semifinal with California comes after Stanford went 1-2 against the Bears in the regular season, including a 12-8 loss to end the regular season last weekend.
