Scoresheet Opens in a new window

BERKELEY, Calif. - The Cardinal pushed No. 2 California to overtime after three unanswered goals to end regulation, but fell in the MPSF Championship semifinal 15-14 today.

Riley Pittman led the way for the Card, scoring five goals in a game for just the second time this season. Freshman Alex Gheorghe scored four goals for the first time in his career, and Jackson Painter added four scores as well.

The teams were tied three separate times before California took a 13-10 lead with just under four minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Goals from Gheorghe, Painter and Soren Jensen forced the game into overtime.

Liam Harrison made 17 saves to set a new career high, and a single-game best for the Cardinal this season.

Stanford will meet No. 1 UCLA tomorrow at 11:15 a.m. for the MPSF third-place game.
