AUSTIN, Texas – Stanford wrapped up the four-day Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational with seven men's victories, more than any other school.

The Cardinal closed out the meet at Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center with two victories on Saturday, in the 100-yard freestyle and 400 free relay.

The Cardinal 400 free relay team of Andres Dupont, Rafael Gu, Jonathan Tan, and Luke Maurer was timed in 2:48.54, an NCAA 'A' standard. It was Stanford's third 'A' time of the meet, all on relays.

The one constant on Stanford's three relay victories, including the 400 medley and 200 free relays, was Rafael Gu. The sophomore from Shanghai, China, won the 100 free on Saturday in 42.40 and finished with five of Stanford's seven victories over the course of the invitational, including two on individual events and three on relays.

Rex Maurer, who captured the 400 individual medley and 500 free earlier in the meet, was part of three victories overall.

Altogether, Stanford's seven triumphs were more than the six by Texas and five by USC.

In the 400 free relay, Stanford's splits for each 100 were 42.66 by Dupont, 41.86 by Gu, 42.18 by Tan, and 41.84 by Luke Maurer. Dupont was in fourth through his opening 50, but battled back to finish his opening leg in second.

Gu pushed Stanford into the lead on his opening 50 and the Cardinal maintained the lead for the rest of the race, dipping under the 'A' cutoff of 2:50.44.

Rex Maurer was pitched in a battle for first in the 200 backstroke with Will Modglin of Texas. Modglin hit the 'A' standard with a 1:39.99 and Maurer just missed, swimming 1:39.75 for a 'B' standard, just off the 'A' cutoff of 1:39.13.

Stanford's men are done for the fall, and resume their season with home dual against Pacific on January 12.
