STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford senior Cameron Brink was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Tuesday.
Brink scored a career-high 29 points, including eight of the Cardinal's 11 in overtime, in an 82-79 victory over Duke on Sunday. She added 11 rebounds and six blocks against the Blue Devils to become just the third Stanford player since 1999-2000 with 25+ points, 10+ rebounds and 5+ blocks in a game, and the first in a decade.
Chiney Ogwumike did it twice in the final 10 games of her college career in 2013-14 and Jayne Appel reached those numbers in an overtime contest against Utah in November 2007.
Brink was voted Pac-12 Player of the Week for the eighth time in her career on Monday. She is the nation's leading active shot blocker (312) and is fourth this season in blocks per game (3.75). Also averaging 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds, Brink is one of two players in the country putting up averages of 15+ points, 10+ rebounds and 3+ blocks (Kamilla Cardoso – South Carolina; Brooklyn Meyer - South Dakota State).
New this year, the USBWA is handing out five Ann Meyers Drysdale weekly honors each week. Brink was honored along with Texas' Taylor Jones, Kansas State's Ayoka Lee, Villanova's Lucy Olsen and Harvard's Harmoni Turner.
No. 4 Stanford is on the road for the first time this season at the Ball Dawgs Classic in Henderson, Nev. The event begins on Wednesday when the Cardinal faces Belmont at 1:30 p.m.
