PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Playing in its final contest at the 2023 Battle 4 Atlantis, Stanford men's basketball fell to Northern Iowa, 73-51.
Maxime Raynaud led the Cardinal with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Michael Jones scored nine points and Brandon Angel and James Keefe had eight apiece. The Stanford offense came into the game averaging nearly 84 points per game, but struggled from the field in shooting 36.5 percent from the floor and 19.2 percent from 3-point range.
Northern Iowa (2-4) jumped out to an early lead despite Stanford's first eight points coming from Raynaud. The Panthers used a large run to take control of the game, leading at the break 49-27.
Stanford held the Panthers to just 24 points in the second half, on 32.1 percent shooting and 14.3 percent from beyond the arc, but the deficit was too large to overcome.
The Cardinal returns home to Maples Pavilion to face San Diego on Sunday, Dec. 3. The 4 p.m. tip will air on Pac-12 Network.
