Stanford Signs Four

STANFORD, Calif. – ­­Chris Ayres, The Matt Gentry Head Wrestling Coach, and his staff are pleased to announce the signing of four to National Letters of Intent on behalf of the wrestling program.
 
Stanford's incoming class of 2028 consists of Grigor Cholakyan (Burbank, Calif.), Jack Consiglio (Lansdale, Pa.), Collin Guffey (Alpine, Calif.) and Aden Valencia (Morgan Hill, Calif.).
 

Grigor Cholakyan • St. John Bosco High School • Burbank, Calif.

• Projected to wrestle at 157 pounds
• Two-time California State placer (5th and 4th)
• Placed third at Doc B in 2023
• Reno Tournament of Champions winner and Outstanding Wrestler in 2022
• Finished fourth at Super 32 in 2022
• 2023 Fargo finalist 
• Placed third at Fargo in 2022
• 2023 Journeyman Fall Classic champion and Outstanding Wrestler
• 2021 Cadet WTT 7th place

Jack Consiglio • Malvern Prep • Lansdale, Pa.

• Three-time Powerade placer (1st, 2nd, 5th)

• Ranked No. 3 nationally at 145 pounds (FloWrestling)
• No. 35 in Class of 2024 High School Big Board

Collin Guffey • Granite Hills High School • Alpine, Calif.

• Projected to wrestle at 165 and 174 pounds
• Ranked No. 27 pound-for-pound recruit on MatScouts Senior Big Board
• Led team to its first-ever CIF Divisional Championship and a ninth-place finish at the CIF State Championships (2023)
• Two-time California CIF State placer (runner-up in 2023 and 5th in 2022)
• Nationally ranked each year: No. 21 at 113 pounds as a freshman, No. 17 at 132 pounds as a sophomore, No. 5 at 152 pounds as junior, and currently No. 6 at 165 pounds as a senior
