Honda Award Finalist

Honda Award for Soccer Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore midfielder Jasmine Aikey has been named one of four finalists for the Honda Sport Award for Soccer, it was announced on Monday by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA).

Aikey is joined by Hannah Anderson from Texas Tech University, Onyi Echegini from Florida State University and Brigham Young University's Brecken Mozingo. The native of Palo Alto, Calif. is the first finalist from Stanford since Catarina Macario won the award following the 2019 season, and the 10th finalist overall for the Cardinal.

The women's soccer finalists were selected by a panel of experts and coaches from the United Soccer Coaches. The Honda Sport award winner for soccer will be announced later this week after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Each NCAA member institution has a vote.

Aikey, a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and a United Soccer Coaches All-America first team pick, was named Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year and earned All-Pac-12 first team honors this season. Aikey scored in nine of 25 matches this year while contributing a point in 18 of the 25, helping lead the Cardinal to the 2023 National Championship match and a runner-up finish. The two-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region first team selection finished the season ranked first in the Pac-12 in assists (12) and points (34), second in game-winning goals (4), and third in total goals (11).

The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 48 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies "the best of the best in collegiate athletics." The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2024 Honda Cup, which will be presented during a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7 PM ET, from its new home in New York City.
