Cardinal Picked Second

STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford men's volleyball team has been chosen by the conference coaches to finish second in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, the league announced today.

The 2023 MPSF Tournament runner-up, the Cardinal totaled 29 points and received one first-place vote. Under the guidance of John Kosty, The Birkhofer Family Men's Volleyball Head Coach in his 18th season at the helm, Stanford is led by two-time AVCA All-American outside hitter Will Rottman – one of nine seniors on the 2024 squad.

Defending MPSF and NCAA champion UCLA was picked to repeat its regular season conference title, collecting six first-place votes for the maximum 36 points.

BYU and Grand Canyon tied for No. 3 with 23 points apiece, while USC was fifth with 17 points. Pepperdine (13) and Concordia (6) round out the poll.

The regular season conference champion will be the No. 1 seed in the MPSF Tournament, hosted by USC (April 17-20). The MPSF Tournament champion receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament, being hosted by Long Beach State (April 28 – May 4).

Stanford opens the 2024 season on Sunday, Jan. 7 versus Loyola Chicago at 5 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion. The Cardinal and Ramblers will meet again on Monday, Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. in Maples Pavilion on Pac-12 Networks. Admission to all regular season home matches is free.
