STANFORD, Calif. - Mark Fisher was named a first team Scholar All-America selection, the United Soccer Coaches organization announced on Friday.
A senior and team captain for the 2023 season, Fisher guided the Cardinal to its best finish in the NCAA tournament since 2019, concluding in the quarterfinals. The team's run included a 3-0 victory over No. 1 seed Marshall in Huntington, West Virginia.
An All-Pac-12 second team selection, Fisher was also selected as a United Soccer Coaches All-Far West region first team honoree. The Grand Blanc, Michigan native is the eighth player to earn the award during head coach Jeremy Gunn's tenure on The Farm.
Fisher netted a career-high in goals and assists this year, including a sensational bicycle kick winner against California on senior day. He helped lead Stanford's offense to the top of the charts in 2023, as the team averaged 2.89 assists per game for the third-best mark in the NCAA. The Cardinal also ranked third in total assists (55), sixth in total points (141), seventh in points per game (7.42), ninth in goal differential (+26), ninth in scoring offense (2.26), 10th in total goals (43), and 18th in won-lost-tied percentage (0.711).
A two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, three-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll honoree, and now a Scholar All-American, Fisher has had a tremendous career in the classroom on The Farm. He is set to graduate with a GPA of 3.85 and a degree in bioengineering.
