STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford opened conference play on Friday night at Maples Pavilion, falling to Arizona State, 76-73.
Brandon Angel and Maxime Raynaud paced the offense with 15 points apiece, while Raynaud contributed his third double-double of the season with a career-high-tying 15 rebounds. Jared Bynum pitched in 12 points and six assists, while Kanaan Carlyle scored a career-best 12 points off the Cardinal bench.
Spencer Jones scored nine points in his return from injury, including a trio of 3-pointers. With the makes from long range, Jones moved into 12th place on the Pac-12's all-time made 3-pointers list, passing former Arizona guard Damon Stoudamire and Arizona State guard Ty Abbott. He also passed Landry Fields for 22nd place on Stanford's all-time scoring list.
