STANFORD, Calif. – Kanaan Carlyle of the Stanford men's basketball team has been named the Associated Press National Player of the Week, as announced by the organization on Jan. 2. Carlyle was also chosen as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week and the Dick Vitale Diaper Dandy of the Week.
Carlyle introduced himself to the college basketball world against Arizona with a career-high 28 points to lead Stanford to victory over Arizona on Dec. 31. The Atlanta native also scored 12 points against Arizona State, and he is averaging 20.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in conference play on 60 percent shooting from the floor and 67 percent from 3-point range.
