STANFORD, Calif. – Ky Robinson and Roisin Willis are on the preseason watch list for The Bowerman, collegiate track and field's most prestigious individual honor.
Robinson, a senior management science and engineering major from Brisbane, Australia, is a two-time NCAA men's track champion. Robinson won the 5,000 and 10,000 meters in Austin, Texas, last spring and is a 10-time All-American.
Willis, a sophomore from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, is a two-time NCAA women's track champion. Willis won the 800 and the distance medley relay at the NCAA Indoor Championships last March. She is a four-time All-American.
Each watch list consists of 10 individuals. The list will be updated on February 7 and 8.
In the 2022-23 academic year, Robinson was named Men's Outdoor Track National Athlete of the Year and Men's Outdoor Track Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. He also earned first-team Academic All-American honors.
So far in 2023-24, Robinson won his first Pac-12 cross country title, leading Stanford to the team title, and was a personal-best third at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. In his season-opening indoor track meet, Robinson ran the 5,000 in 13:06.42 in Boston -- shattering his own Stanford absolute record while running the second-fastest indoor time in collegiate history.
Willis was named West Region Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year as a freshman and broke school records in the indoor 800, indoor 4x400, indoor DMR, and outdoor DMR. She placed fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 800, running 2:00.91.
