CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Stanford football learned its complete 2024 schedule on Wednesday afternoon, as the Atlantic Coast Conference revealed dates for all conference games for the upcoming season.

Atlantic Coast Conference play begins on Friday, Sept. 20 in Week 4 of the season, as Stanford heads to Syracuse. This is the Cardinal's lone Friday ACC game during its first season in the new conference, and it immediately follows a Week 3 bye. The team will have consecutive games on the road to start ACC play, with a Sept. 28 matchup at Clemson one week later.

The first ACC school to arrive on The Farm is Virginia Tech, as the Hokies and Cardinal lock up on Saturday, Oct. 5. There will be three home ACC games in the month of October, with SMU (Oct. 19) and Wake Forest (Oct. 26) making the trip out west. The October 26 contest against the Demon Deacons will serve as the Reunion Homecoming game.

The final home game of 2024 will take place on Nov. 16 when Louisville arrives for a meeting of the Cardinal and Cardinals. Louisville played in last year's ACC Championship against Florida State.

The 2024 season begins with two consecutive home contests, first against the TCU Horned Frogs, who lost in the 2022 National Championship game, on Friday, Aug. 30. One week later, on Sept. 7, Stanford welcomes in FCS opponent Cal Poly.

Big road games in October and November are aplenty for Stanford. Rivalry games are renewed beginning on Oct. 12 in South Bend as the Cardinal play Notre Dame for the Legends Trophy. The 127th Big Game will take place in Berkeley this year as Stanford and California meet on Nov. 23.

The final road game of conference play for Stanford takes place on Nov. 2, when the Cardinal take on NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina. This game precedes a second bye week in the schedule.

The return of the Bill Walsh Legacy Game will round out the 2024 season, as Stanford heads down Highway 101 to take on San Jose State on Nov. 30. The two teams have not met since 2013 but begin a four-game series that renews a classic local rivalry.

On Oct. 30, 2023, the ACC announced its football scheduling model in advance of the realignment of the conference. Stanford's annual eight-game ACC slate will feature four home games and four road games. The approved format will have all 17 teams playing each other at least twice over the next seven seasons - once at home and once on the road. The current 14 conference teams will play a total of three times each in California over the seven years and none will travel west to California in back-to-back seasons.

The new ACC schedule will continue with no divisions and increase the number of annual conference matchups from 56 to 68. The top two teams based on conference winning percentage will compete in the ACC Football Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
