CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - For the first time in program history, Stanford finishes atop the team standings at the Southern Scuffle, presented by Compound Sportswear.
Stanford finished with a program-best 153.5 points, obliterating its previous best of 105.5 from last season, and had 11 placewinners overall, including three runners-up. Oklahoma (136) was second a a team, while Indiana (134) was third.
Advancing to the finals for the Cardinal, which had seven wrestlers in the semifinals, were senior Jason Miranda (141) and sophomores Nico Provo (125) and Daniel Cardenas (157). All three fell by decision to ranked opponents in the finals, Cardenas in sudden victory.
The Cardinal joins the 2015 Penn State team as the only programs to win the tournament without an individual champion.
Redshirt senior Jaden Abas and senior Nick Stemmet were third at 149 and 197 pounds, respectively. Senior Peter Ming, who was unseeded, placed fourth, while redshirt freshman Hunter Garvin (165) and true freshman Tyler Knox (133) and Zach Hanson (157) were fifth.
Redshirt freshman Jack Darrah finished sixth at 184 pounds, while true freshman Abraham Wojcikiewicz was eighth at 184 pounds.
Stanford returns to The Farm to host No. 2 Missouri on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks.
