STANFORD, Calif. – Opening its penultimate road trip in Pac-12 action, Stanford men's basketball fell at Washington, 85-65, at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Maxime Raynaud and Brandon Angel led the Cardinal with 19 points apiece, with Raynaud securing a game-high 16 rebounds to go with two steals. Angel was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line, while the double-double was Raynaud's 10th of the season and eighth in Pac-12 action, which tied him for the league-lead in conference play. Andrej Stojakovic was also in double figures with 10 points off the bench.
Stanford led for a majority of the opening period, which saw 13 lead changes and seven ties. Raynaud scored 11 of Stanford's first 17 points, and scored seven points by himself in an early 10-0 run that gave the visitors a 16-8 lead. The Huskies responded with an 8-0 run later in the frame, and hit a three at the buzzer to lead at the half, 40-38.
The Huskies opened the second half on a 12-0 run to take a double-digit lead, and while Stanford cut it to single digits with 11:14 to play on a Stojakovic triple, the Cardinal could not build momentum in the second half.
Stanford returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. against Washington State. The contest will be broadcast on Pac-12 Network.
