Season-Best Road Score in Corvallis

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Stanford women's gymnastics earned its season-best road score in Corvallis Saturday, falling 197.100-196.600 to No. 19 Oregon State inside Gill Coliseum. 

The Cardinal's performance was highlighted by junior Anapaula Gutierrez's career-best 9.950 vault score, earning the event title for the Highlands Ranch, Colo. native. With its efforts Saturday, Stanford recorded its second consecutive meet with all four event team scores above the 49.000-point threshold, including tying the season's second-best floor rotation. 

Oregon State's Jade Carey won the bars (9.950), beam (9.925), floor (9.925), and all-around titles, totaling a 39.650 all-around score. 

Stanford started the matinee meet on bars, earning a 49.175 team score. Fifth-year Chloe Widner led the way on the apparatus with a 9.875 in the anchor position, while junior Brenna Neault and sophomore Ava Sorrento recorded scores of 9.850. Sophomore Claire Dean, Gutierrez, and freshman Sienna Robinson (career debut on the event) each marked performances scoring 9.800.

Gutierrez led the way on vault for Stanford en route to a 49.050 team score. Sophomore Taralyn Nguyen earned the Cardinal's second-best total, recording a 9.850, while Dean and senior Amanda Zeng marked scores of 9.775. Neault finished the scoring routines with a 9.700.

Floor was the Cardinal's best event of the day, scoring a team total of 49.300 with scores of 9.900 from both Neault and Nguyen. Zeng posted a 9.875 in the fourth spot, while Dean opened the rotation with a 9.825 and freshman Victoria Cluck matched her career-best effort with a 9.800. 

The meet ended on beam for Stanford, where the Cardinal was led by Neault's 9.850 in the fifth spot of the lineup. Nguyen added a 9.825 while sophomore Ashley Carter, freshman Robinson, and sophomore Dean each earned scores of 9.800. Carter's performance was a career-best total for the sophomore from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. 

Stanford ends its two-week road trip next Friday, traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah for an evening meet at No. 4 Utah scheduled for a 5 p.m. start on Pac-12 Networks.
