Trio Concludes Worlds

DOHA, Qatar – Stanford's Andres Dupont Cabrera and Jonathan Tan concluded action at the World Aquatics Championships last week and were among three members of the Cardinal men's swimming and diving team to compete, along with diver Jack Ryan.

Dupont set a personal best in the 100-meter freestyle of 48.81 while leading off Mexico's 4x100 free relay team. Mexico and Tan's Singapore team both competed in that relay, though in different preliminary heats. Singapore placed 14th overall in 3:18.52 to Mexico's 15th in 3:20.41.

Dupont competed in three relays with a best finish of 12th, in the 4x200 free.

Tan competed in two individual events – the 50 and 100 free – and placed 28th overall in each.

This was the second World Championships for Tan, who raced in Fukuoka, Japan, in 2023. Tan has achieved the Olympic Qualifying Time of 21.96, swimming 21.91 at the Southeast Asian Games on May 7, 2023.

This was the first Worlds for Dupont, and the second for Ryan, who placed 27th in the 1-meter springboard on Feb. 3.

Dupont, Tan, and Ryan return to action Saturday when Stanford plays host to Cal on Senior Day at Avery Aquatic Center at noon, concluding the Cardinal's home season.
