Stanford Falls to CSUN

STANFORD, Calif. – Playing for a second consecutive night, No. 4 Stanford dropped a 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 22-25 decision to No. 17 CSUN, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (7-1) hit .264 as a team, while CSUN (6-4) turned in a .383 clip. The Cardinal finished with 38 kills, 6.0 blocks, 28 digs and four aces, while the Matadors racked up 60 kills, 9.5 blocks, 31 digs and five aces.

Outside hitter Kevin Lamp led Stanford with a season-high 17 kills on .500 hitting to go with four digs, a block and an ace. Opposite Moses Wagner added six kills, a team-high seven digs and a block.
 


Setter Nathan Lietzke totaled 28 assists and hit .500 with a season-best five kills on 10 errorless swings. The fifth-year also tallied two digs, a block and an ace.

Libero Luke Turner collected six digs and matched his career-high with five assists. Outside hitter Theo Snoey finished with four kills, five digs, two blocks and an ace, while middle blocker Ethan Hill had four kills, three blocks and a dig.

Middle blocker Nathaniel Gates posted three blocks, two digs, a kill and an ace. Sophomore Ryan DuRoss came off the bench in all four sets, recording a block, while fifth-year Adam Chang played in three sets and had a kill.
 


CSUN was led by outside hitter Kyle Hobus' match-high 22 kills on .415 hitting, five digs, three blocks and an ace. Jalen Phillips chipped in with 19 kills on a .412 attack percentage, eight digs and two blocks.

Stanford was without Alex and Will Rottman for a second straight match.

The Cardinal hits the road next week, traveling to No. 3 Hawai'i on Wednesday and Friday.
