LAS VEGAS – Stanford men's basketball saw its season come to a close in the Pac-12 quarterfinals, 79-62, to Washington State. The Cardinal finishes 14-18 on the season.
Spencer Jones led the Cardinal offense with 22 points, going 8-for-12 from the floor and 5-for-6 from 3-point range. Brandon Angel was also in double figures with 15 points to go with a team-leading six rebounds. Michael Jones pitched in nine points.
The first half went back and forth over the opening minutes, with Angel making his first five attempts from the floor for 10 early points. Washington State ended the half on a 21-10 push to lead at the half, 45-29.
Stanford made a second half push with 14 minutes to go, posting a 12-2 run led by two triples from Spencer Jones. Jones scored nine of Stanford's final 11 points, but the second half deficit was too large to overcome.
The Cardinal announced a leadership change within the men's basketball program at the conclusion of the game.
