LOS ANGELES - Stanford returned to action over the weekend competing in the PCCSC South Designate semifinals and the Friis Team Race. The Cardinal finished second overall at the South Designate while finishing seventh overall at the Friis.

In Los Angeles, in the PCCSC event, Stanford competed against a large field of conference foes, finishing second out of 23 total teams.

The Cardinal claimed the best finish among all competitors in the A division, topping the fleet with only 27 points, five ahead of Hawaii in second place. Stanford's 57 points for its B boat were fifth overall in the division.

Sophie Fisher led Stanford's efforts in the A division, skippering each race while Margot Hutchins and Lauren Taylor split the crew duties.

In the B division, Jack Baldwin controlled the skipper role while Shay Wood served as the crew.

Meanwhile, in Bristol, Rhode Island at the Friis Team Race, Stanford sailed against a stiff competition including Roger Williams, Yale, and Tufts. The conditions were also challenging, with races only sailed on Saturday and none on Sunday due to a freezing wind chill and big breeze.

Stanford finished seventh in the Friis Trophy standings, sailing to a 3-5 record in the event. The Cardinal claimed wins against Boston College, Tufts, and Rhode Island, while falling to Harvard, Yale, Roger Williams, Coast Guard, and MIT.

The Cardinal was led by Michelle Lahrkamp, Vanessa Lahrkamp, and Thomas Sitzmann as skippers while Luke Woodworth, Gwendolyn Donahue, Ellie Harned, Reade Decker, Grace Austin, and Alice Schmid all sailed as crews.

The Cardinal returns to the water next weekend with two more regattas at the Marchiando Team Race and the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race.
