FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Stanford set two season-bests as the final Pac-12 Men's Swimming Championships began on Wednesday at the King County Aquatic Center.
Stanford placed second in the 800-yard freestyle relay and third in the 200 medley relay in the only finals on Day One of the four-day competition.
The 800 free relay team of Andres Dupont, Andrei Minakov, Luke Maurer, and Henry McFadden clocked 6:10.08, edging Cal for second behind Arizona State. The time is the fifth-best in the country this season.
In the opening event, the 200 medley relay, Stanford's team of Rex Maurer, Ron Polonsky, Rafael Gu, and Jonathan Tan was third in 1:23.14.
Combined with Jack Ryan's springboard diving victories from last week, Stanford is fifth in the team standings, with 106 points.
The meet resumes Thursday with prelims beginning at 11 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Finals will be held in the 500 free, 200 individual medley, 50 free, and 200 free relay.
