Two Defensive Transfers Join Card

STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford football added a pair of transfers on the defensive side of the ball as spring ball is set to get underway. Joining the Cardinal officially this week are Jay Green and Jahsiah Galvan, and both should make an immediate impact to the Stanford defense.

Green heads to The Farm after spending the last two seasons facing the Cardinal in Pac-12 play as a member of the Washington Huskies defense. A defensive back who stands at 6-2, Green played in all 15 games last year for the Huskies as Washington made its run to the National Championship game. He recorded a season-high in tackles at Stanford on Oct. 28 and made a pair of tackles in the Sugar Bowl. Green played 24 games over two seasons and gives flexibility at both the corner and safety positions.

Galvan will join Stanford from Northern Iowa, where he appeared in 13 games over two seasons, including all 11 in 2023. He was named a Phil Steele First Team Freshman All-American after leading the Panthers with 77 tackles from the linebacker position, including 5.5 tackles for loss. He recorded his first interception of his career in September against Youngstown State and forced a fumble at South Dakota State. He was also awarded Fifth Team All-MVFC honors following the season.

Spring football practice is underway for the Cardinal, with 15 practices lined up for the month of April. Stay tuned to GoStanford.com and @StanfordFBall on social media for highlights and features throughout the month.
