No. 3 Cardinal Sweeps Sun Devils To Open Pac-12 Championship

TEMPE, Ariz. -- No. 3 Stanford kicked off postseason action with a win Wednesday, sweeping No. 3 Arizona State 3-0 at the 2024 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championship held at Sun Devil Beach Volleyball Facility in Tempe, Ariz.

With the victory, Stanford matched its program-best win total from the 2023 season, moving to 29-3 on the year.

Freshman Ruby Sora and junior Taylor Wilson record the first point of the match with a 21-12, 21-16 victory on court two, avenging its loss against the Sun Devils' twos pair from earlier this season.

Senior Kate Reilly and freshman Clara Stowell secured the second point on court four, fighting off a comeback attempt from Kate Fitzgerald and Ava Kirunchyk in a 21-17, 19-21, 15-12 three-set victory.

Senior Xolani Hodel and freshman Brooke Rockwell brought the dual win home with a 21-19, 21-11 win on court one over ASU's Ava Williamson and Daniella Kensinger.

The Cardinal moves on in the winner's bracket and is slated to take on No. 2 ranked and No. 2-seed UCLA Thursday, April 25 at 8:30 a.m. on Pac-12 Network. With a victory over the Bruins, Stanford would stay in the winners bracket and next play Friday, April 26 at 9 a.m. With a loss, the Cardinal would move to the contenders bracket and compete again Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
