SEATTLE – After a split day to open play, No. 2 Stanford swept day two of the Pac-12 North Invitational with 5-0 victories over Utah and No. 18 Arizona Saturday in Seattle.
Through 24 matches in the 2024 season, the Cardinal holds a 21-3 record with all losses coming to top-10 programs, and two of the three coming from top-three ranked programs. Stanford now has its fourth straight 20+ win season, winning 97 matches since the start of the 2021 season.
The Cardinal opened its day in Seattle with a sweep of the Utes, led by two-set victories on courts one, three, four, and five. Senior Maya Harvey and sophomore Ashley Vincent earned the match's first point with a 21-7, 24-22 victory on court four, followed by a 14-21, 23-21, 15-11 win by sophomore Kelly Belardi and freshman Chloe Hoffman on court two. Redshirt sophomore Emma Morris and sophomore Daria Gusarova clinched the match with a 21-15, 21-16 decision on court five.
Stanford followed its morning win with another 5-0 victory, this time of No. 18 Arizona for its 13th top-20 win of the 2024 season. Junior Taylor Wilson and freshman Ruby Sorra captured the first point of the day with a three-set win on court two while senior Kate Reilly and freshman Clara Stowell tallied the second point with a 21-15, 21-13, 15-11 decision on court four over Arizona's Jess Horwath and Kate Phillips. Harvey and Vincent secured the win with a 21-17, 21-14 victory over Ashlyn Ziliken and Miranda Erro on court five.
Stanford returns to The Farm Wednesday for a single match, taking on San Francisco at 3 p.m. The meeting between the Cardinal and Dons will be televised on Stanford Live Stream.
