STANFORD, Calif. -- Freshman Brooke Rockwell was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
Rockwell was also selected as a member of the Pac-12 All-Conference First Team with partner senior Xolani Hodel and fellow freshman Ruby Sorra. Junior Taylor Wilson was named to the all-conference second team. Rockwell was part of the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and was joined by Sorra.
Rockwell is the Cardinal's first conference player yearly award winner since 2017, when Kathryn Plummer won the same award. Head coach Andrew Fuller is the most recent Stanford staff member honored by the conference, named Coach of the Year in the 2021 season.
Stanford's three first-team selections and two pairs (Hodel and Rockwell, Wilson and Sorra) earning honors are both new program-bests.
Brooke Rockwell • Freshman of the Year • All-Pac-12 first team • All-Freshman Team
Rockwell is just the second freshman in program history honored as the conference's best, and earlier today was named an AVCA First Team All-America selection, the only freshman in the nation honored on the first team. She spent the entirety of her freshman year paired with Xolani Hodel on court one, earning a 24-10 record.
Xolani Hodel • All-Pac-12 first team
Hodel becomes Stanford's first-ever four-time All-Pac-12 first-team selection, as her senior season was another incredible one with a 24-10 record on court one with partner Brooke Rockwell. Also a four-time all-American, as announced earlier today by the AVCA, throughout the 2024 season, she earned wins over top-10 programs such as UCLA, Florida State, California, and LSU. Hodel sits with 88 career wins, the second most in program history.
Ruby Sorra • All-Pac-12 first team • All-Freshman Team
Sorra, a Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, native, has made her mark during her freshman campaign for the Cardinal, earning both All-Pac-12 first team and All-Freshman team honors by the conference and an all-American by the AVCA for her efforts on court two throughout the 2024 season. Paired with partner Taylor Wilson, the duo tabbed a 24-6 record including wins over USC and UCLA.
Taylor Wilson • All-Pac-12 second team
Wilson earned her first-ever honor from the conference and was named Second-Team All-American for her stellar performance throughout her junior campaign. She and partner Sorra soared on court two this season, tabbing a 22-6 record on the court and a 24-6 record as a pair overall. In her three seasons donning a Stanford uniform, Wilson has totaled 58 individual wins, the ninth most in program history.
