STANFORD, Calif. - Four members of the Cardinal were named to NFCA All-West Region teams today, led by sophomore NiJaree Canady and senior Regan Krause earning First Team selections. Sophomores Taryn Kern and Emily Jones each earned Third Team honors as well, giving Stanford four recipients for the second-straight season.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the NFCA's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2023 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
Canady adds the selection to a long list of awards this season, already named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year and earning spots on the conference's First and All-Defensive teams. More recently, Canady was named to the Pac-12 All-Tournament Team last week, and was named one of 10 finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. Canady leads the nation with a 0.50 ERA this season.
Krause joins her fellow pitcher on the First Team, after being named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team last week. Krause's 20 wins on the season lead the Card, and the senior's posted a 2.34 ERA in 137.2 pitched this season.
Kern makes an appearance on the Third Team after being joining Krause on the the All-Pac-12 Second Team. The sophomore has been nearly impossible to keep off the basepaths, leading the team with a 1.054 OPS behind a .516 OBP and .538 slugging percentage.
Rounding out the Cardinal representatives is Jones, who finished the season leading the team in hitting at a .366 clip. Jones picked up a First Team All-Pac-12 honor for her efforts, which included a 16-game hitting streak in April.
The Cardinal is set to host the NCAA Stanford Regional this weekend, taking on Saint Mary's on Friday at 7:00 p.m. PT.
